JPL UPDATE 1
So far, my group has had to completely re imagine our initial idea of using an air tank to propel the ping pong ball. Instead, we agreed on using a trebuchet and loading mechanism like in the sketch below. We are currently in the process of building a trebuchet using Vex parts. In the future, we will have to test how much force is needed to launch the ball and if the loading mechanism will be efficient.
JPL UPDATE 2
Within the past two weeks, we built a version of the trebuchet using wood, but it wasn't made with accurate measurements. When I was gone, my group bought wood and pvc to make our final trebuchet. I helped measure the new wheel component to the measurements. We are currently still in the process of construction. I don't think my group did any testing, since it is not built fully yet.
